How do you get the wedding photos taken by your guests?
Your photographer covers the big moments. But the laughter at the cousins' table, getting ready with the bridal party, the dance floor at 2 a.m.: those hundreds of photos are on your guests' phones. Without a method, most of them will never reach you.
Why guests' photos get lost
The day after a wedding, everyone goes home with their photos, and life picks up again. A few circulate in a family chat, others are promised (“I'll send them over!”) and forgotten. Three months later, asking photo by photo becomes awkward, and nobody remembers who filmed the first dance. The problem is not your guests' goodwill: it is the lack of one single place, known to everyone, where memories can be dropped off while they are still fresh.
The usual methods and their limits
The WhatsApp group
Easy to set up, but WhatsApp compresses photos and videos heavily: for prints or an album, the loss of quality shows. The group also mixes conversation and photos, and never includes every guest. We have devoted a whole guide to this case.
The shared album (Google Photos, iCloud)
Better quality, but it takes a Google or Apple account, knowing how to join the album, and accepting that your wedding photos end up inside the ecosystem of a tech giant. The guests who are least comfortable with technology, often the ones with the most touching photos, are left by the wayside.
Email and the USB stick
Reliable in theory, but the friction is at its highest: nobody emails forty photos from a phone, and a USB stick means meeting up again. These methods rest entirely on chasing people, which you will not feel like doing.
