The QR code has become the simplest way to collect the photos from a wedding. A guest scans it with their camera, the upload page opens, and their photos are on their way in seconds. Here’s how to set it up, where to put it, and the mistakes to avoid.
How it works
The QR code simply encodes the link to your wedding gallery. Every recent phone (and most older ones) reads it straight from the camera, with no dedicated app. Your guest lands on a page where they pick their photos and videos, add a short note if they like, and send. No account to create, and that’s what makes all the difference compared with an ordinary shared album.
Creating your wedding QR code

Where to put the QR code on the day
- On every table: a folded card or a line on the menu. This is the spot that brings in the most photos, because guests have it right in front of them at the very moment they reach for their phone.
- At the entrance: a poster-sized sign with a friendly line (“Share your photos with us!”).
- At the bar and near the photo booth: wherever the photos are being taken.
- In the order of service: for the ceremony photos.
Print the code large enough (at least 3 cm across), with good contrast, and test every printed item before the big day. A two-second scan will save you a nasty surprise.
Spreading the word
A QR code sitting on the tables already collects a lot, but saying it out loud multiplies the uploads. Ask the DJ or the best man to mention it once at the drinks reception and once at dessert.
